I love to tell funny stuff on other people. As a matter of fact, I am always on the lookout for the stupid things people do and say. In order to be true to my craft (writing about people doing stupid stuff) I must tell you about my own stupid stuff.

A few months ago I went to the eye doctor. I have known for some time that I can’t see well at all. I can’t see far off and I can’t see close up. For those of you who don’t know what that means, it means BIFOCALS! I don’t want bifocals! They make me feel old! And blind! I don’t want to be old and blind! I know I am vain!

[sorry about the little fit there, I just needed to get that out of my system]

Sure enough, after my exam, the doctor said, ” you need bifocals”. And you need a tic-tac, I thought to myself, but I’m not makin’ a big deal out of it!

Any way, I haven’t humbled myself, as of yet, and purchased bifocals. Instead, I went to the local drug store and bought a cheap pair of reading glasses. They work just as well as bifocals and no one will ever need know that I am getting old.

When I got home with my glasses, I quickly put them on to see how they worked. It was then that I noticed the glasses didn’t have a nose pad thingy. You know the little, clear, plastic pads that rest on your nose? Yea, those things…… mine didn’t have any…….so stupid….I was so aggravated!……maybe this is why they only cost a dollar!

This was a problem. I tried wearing them without the little pads but it drove me crazy. They weren’t worth taking back, not for a dollar anyway but I really needed to see what I was writing! Can you see my dilemma?

It was then that I had a smart idea to do something really stupid. I went to the craft drawer, took out some blue modeling clay (it brings out the blue in my eyes ) and I made my own eye pads! I am a genius! They worked perfectly AND I can change the color of the pads to match my outfit! Problem solved! I think I may have something here…..I mean ….if the snuggie can make millions…..who knows 🙂
