I jumped out of bed bright and early this morning, at 8:18 (it’s saturday so that’s early!) I knew I had a very busy day ahead of me so I hopped in the shower, did what you do in a shower and then hopped out again. I grabbed my jeans and a t-shirt then proceeded with the rest of my morning ritual.
Right in the middle of fixing my hair, the power went out. As in, NO lights! No air! And NO hairdryer! There was no apparent reason for this sudden power outage. We had paid the power bill……… I think. There were no storms, the weather was perfect. I didn’t hear any sirens so there was no one crashed into a power pole.
Nothing! Just NO power!
So, therefore, I was forced to slow down my pace a little and enjoy my morning. Sometimes we get so busy “doing” life that we forget to “live” life.
I sat on the front porch swing and ate my breakfast that Mr. wonderful made for me. I drank a cup of hot tea and watched Devin and Caleb toss the football back and forth. I opened all of the windows to let the cool morning breeze in and opened the doors so I could talk to Dixie and Cody (our two retrievers).
Soon after, Devin decided that it would be the perfect time to go cut and stack brush. I never knew what brush was until I met Devin. I still don’t know why you have to stack it. I just know that when Devin says “let’s go and stack brush” the kids run put their shoes on, grab some gloves and then to the woods they go. Devin, the kids and the three dogs were gone for a few hours leaving me with some quiet time.
I love quiet time but this was REAL quiet time! No washer and dryer. No T.V. or radio. No voices.
Just quiet……….
Then I thought of YOU, my readers! I ran over to my laptop to write and I found the most wonderful surprise! Comments! 5 of ’em! They were all so wonderful and uplifting to read. I am so grateful to all of you who take time out of your busy day to step into my world for just a minute and for those who take another minute to write back!! Thank you also for sharing my stories with others. My hope is that the laughter will grow and grow and grow! Love to you all, and may God bless your heart!
Sometimes it is necessary for God to turn off OUR power just to remind us of HIS POWER. You so deserved a quite time and even better that you used it to bless others. You are my hero!
Tonya, I enjoy you and your blog so much! I cannot wait everday to see the new things you have written! Your humor is so funny and I always love how you turn everday life into such blessings. I love how you made this power outage such a wonderful day. Continue on my friend, we are out here waiting!!! Love you, Shelia
Tonya, I read your blogs in my mind as if I’m hearing you say it. I read it in your accent, as if you are talking to me and telling me these stories. Ha! Does that make sense? I love them, I love them all. You are using your talents, your humor and God to bless others. I don’t always take the time to write back, but just like in a group fitness class, it always makes me feel good when people stay to ask questions, comment or just tell me that I’m doing a good job. You need to hear that too. Love you girl! Terry
Thanks Terry! I am so glad you read them and that they make you laugh!!! Love you too!
