I have stated in previous posts that I am NOT a morning person. I wake up slow, dazed and a bit crabby most mornings. Thankfully my kids, for the most part, wake up on the right side of the bed and generally in a good mood, for this I am grateful.

This morning, as with most mornings, came too early for me. Devin (my hero) rolled out of bed at 6:00 am to wake the kids up and get himself ready for work. He let me sleep in, all warm and snuggly in my bed, for this I am grateful.

After the kids had gotten ready, ate their breakfast and made lunches, they came into my room, one at a time, to say good morning. First came Cassady. She opened my door, tiptoed in, leaned over, kissed me on the cheek and said, “good morning momma”. For this I am grateful because I know this afternoon may be totally different!!

Soon after, Caleb came in. He leaned over, placed his elbows on the bed and put his face next to mine. Then he whispered (for this I am grateful) “mom, do you know how much I love you?” “no” I said, “how much?” He said with such passion, “I love you more than all the grains of sand in the whole world”. Then he paused for a second….thinking….I could almost feel him thinking….then he said, “I love you more than all the ma…mi…mon…” I could tell he was struggling with the word he was searching for. For some reason (maybe mothers intuition) I said, “minerals?” “yes!”, he said, “minerals….I love you more than all the minerals in the great wall of China!” So precious.

What else could a girl ask for?

That’s a lot of love! All before I could even get out of bed! And for this I am grateful!

I know from experience that it is so easy to get caught up in the junk of life. Kids, job (or the lack thereof), finances, family issues, health issues….it can all be overwhelming and rob us of our joy. I encourage you to slow down and look for the little things in life to be grateful for that sometimes get swallowed up by the bigger issues. It’s kind of like playing hid and seek. Life tends to hide the little blessings and it’s our job to seek them out and be grateful!!

You know what else I’m grateful for? YOU, my loyal readers! Thank you for your loving support and for the wonderful comments. You keep me writing and for this I am grateful!
