You know, after 27 years of marriage things start to show a little wear and tear. Towels and wash cloths become thin and threadbare. Hair dryers blow up. Washing machines stop spinning. Ice makers leak. Air conditioners go out and cars squat down in the middle of the road and die. Stuff happens…time goes by…things wear out…but life goes on.

Today was another one of those days when.…yet again…something broke. Usually, when something breaks, I try to work my magic and convince Devin that we need to replace it with a new one…and he usually works his magic and says NO. So, when I woke up this morning and saw a puddle of water in front of the refrigerator I immediately thought…hmmm…maybe we could get a new one, and Devin immediately thought…hmmm…maybe I should call the repair man. Are you seeing a pattern here?

After I mopped up the water and put the leaking refrigerator out of my mind, I got ready for my day and headed out the door. As I was driving I felt a rough spot in my wedding ring. With further inspection I realized that it wasn’t just a rough spot, it was broken! When your wedding band breaks in the middle from just plain old wear and tear, then you know…well…that a lot of time has gone by (I don’t want to say I’m old).

Instantly I text Devin to let him know that my wedding band had broken….thinking maybe, just maybe, if the sun, moon and stars lined up and the jewelry gods smiled down upon me that Devin would offer to buy me a new one. Well, guess what? Nothing lined up and turns out there’s not a jewelry god. Here’s how the brief conversation went:

ME: My wedding band just broke!! So now I’m only engaged.

Devin: Wow! Honeymoon all over again 😉 (is that all he gets out of this?)

Me: Gotta have a ring first.

Devin: Oklahoma recognizes “common law marriage”.

Well, there ya have it folks…a brief conversation gone wrong. Anybody know of a good jewelry repair shop?

Thanks for reading! I love you more than butter cream frosting!
